Now, That's More Like It! Dems Start Kickin' A** and Takin' Names

So, it was a long day at work, and I'm tired and crabby, and the kids' had an exhorbitant amount of homework. No tears, but close. I have been feeling a sort of ennui, a deep frustration over the lack of action on the part of the Congress and Administration. I have been, as you know, pretty perturbed, hell, downright angry that we are pissing away political capital, watching health care reform circling the drain. I've been an impatient critic, and have had to be talked down by more than one fellow politico over the last ten months. And after the craziness surrounding the one-sided debate this week, I am sick and tired of the loss of political capital over the non-action of the Dems over what should be a slam dunk on health care reform.

And I settle in to watch the faux-TiVo of our gal Maddow. Imagine my surprise upon seeing this...

WOW! Incredible! Dare I believe such things? Stripping chairmanships from those who vote with the Rethuglicans? Really??? Wait, let me run it back....

I'll be damned! Yes! YES! See, this has been what I've been saying all along: a little LBJ arm-twisting is in order, and let's not stand for this filibuster biz, but use the cloture rule instead. Wanna do it the easy way? Run it through budget reconciliation. But, my God, do not let this opportunity pass! Do not waste a majority in the House and Senate, and a Dem in the Oval. If we can't do it now, when will we ever??? And we must. This is a moral and fiscal imperative, and a chance to show that we are the party of fiscal responsibility and just plain keeping our word.

Now, will it all really come to pass? I think it just might...there has been a quiet wave of progressive momentum that has been churning to a boil, with high-pressure ads running in ConservaDems districts, with robocalls asking constituents in Republican districts (like mine - grrrrr! Gallegly is a doddering old fool!), and an activating of the liberal base that got us into The White House. Groups like Mad As Hell Doctors have been debunking grandma-killing myths across the country. And just plain ordinary folks are getting sick and tired of being sick, and tired. I think we're on to something here, and it's gonna be big and healthy for the party and the country as well. Dems in Congress are finally growing a pair...

'Nuff said for a weeknight. But I could not let this momentous occasion pass without comment. Well, now it's your turn. Think it'll stick? Or is it just another false alarm? Speak out, my fellow Politicos!

One last note: Louie Gohmert (R, TX) is an utter fool. A hypocritical, ignorant, backwoods nutjob.
All yours, Gang...
